When you think of New year what comes to your mind?

You might say resolutions that last for one day other than that there is one thing that New year signifies. Wonder what it is?

New beginnings! Each new year signifies the end of a year and a beginning of another, a chance to start over. There are dreamers who believe that a new year will bring new luck and opportunities, then there are realists who say that it’s just another day in the calendar, there’s one thing both these people might have in common. Their love for desserts! A new year is a day where you can eat to your heart’s content and enjoy the desserts.

Why not welcome this new year with these amazing desserts?

    MUFFINS

These little guys have been around for quite a while now, made as a mixture of flour and fruits/nuts/ chocolates, these tasty treats were first originated in the 10th century by the servants of the rich aristocrats from leftover cakes. Their taste made them creep into the menu of the aristocrats as well. They were perfect partners to an evening tea. The American version of muffins are called cupcakes; they are the improvised version of these simple desserts. well, the servants sure made a miracle out of what they had. This story does prove that you can create something amazing with what you have.

    BROWNIES

Brownies are little pieces of heaven. Made of chocolate, butter, sugar, eggs and cake flour these sweethearts can cheer up anyone. We can thank a chef from the Palmer house hotel for inventing this dessert. Bertha Palmer, the wife of the owner of Palmer hotel requested a special dessert that was smaller than a cake but still retaining the characteristics of a cake for the ladies attending the Chicago world fair in 1893. So they made the first brownie topped with walnuts and Apricot Glaze. Well, the chefs sure got out of their comfort zone and created something phenomenal.

    CHOCOLATE TRUFFLE CAKE

Some amazing things begin as accidents. That’s the case of this delicious dark beauty, one day when Kimberly Skyler, a pastry chef at Literati II, Los Angeles was baking a crème fraîche–spike chocolate cake but took out the pan from the oven earlier. She found that the cake was super fudgy, she got creative and layered the cake with dark chocolate and white chocolate, then finished the masterpiece by covering it in dark chocolate frosting. Well, that was a delicious accident!

    CHEESECAKES

This cheesy dessert has traveled the globe. The first cheesecake was invented by the Greeks. Cheesecakes were considered as a good source of energy and were presented to the athletes in the first Olympic games held in 776. B.C. This dessert was made from flour, wheat, honey, and cheese. After the Roman’s conquered Greece, the cake was a spoil of war, the Romans improvised it by adding crushed cheese and eggs. From then on, this cake has traveled to many parts of the world and undergone many alterations. The cheesecake sure teaches that life goes and you have to adapt to the changes to move forward.

You may be a dreamer or a realist but this new year sit back and think of all the things that have happened to you in the past year and be thankful for the experiences and don’t forget the lessons. Welcome the new year with these amazing desserts and remember the life lessons they teach us.
