Are you confused about what to gift your friends this Christmas?

Do you want to be the cool aunt/uncle who gives the perfect gifts?

Are you looking for the perfect gift that won’t burn a hole in your budget?

It’s finally December! The countdown for Christmas has begun, so has the race for finding the perfect Christmas gifts. We know how tiring the gift hunt can be, that is why we are going to suggest a gift that is not only an eternal heart robber but also budget friendly.

This is the one gift that never goes out of fashion, it can put an instant smile on anyone’s face. The perfect gift is none other than CHOCOLATES!

Different products flood the market during Christmas but the one gift that has been ruling hearts for centuries is chocolate.

    GIFTING CHOCOLATES ON CHRISTMAS

Gifting chocolates on special occasions have been a custom for centuries. This sweet delicacy was believed to be the food of the gods. The Aztecs believed that cocoa beans were gifted to humans by the Gods. They presented chocolate drinks to their royalties, warriors, and explorers.

In Casanova, chocolate was called the elixir of love. Chocolates were gifted by the people to those who were considered very special to them. In the 1900s, Queen Victoria gifted chocolates to soldiers during Christmas/New year’s eve. From then it became a custom to gift chocolates on special occasions to special people.

THE STORY OF CHOCOLATE COINS AND CHRISTMAS

There was another interesting custom of gifting coin-shaped chocolates wrapped in gold paper on Christmas. There are two main theories that are said to be the reason for this practice.

When the 3 wise men came to see baby Jesus in Bethlehem they bought luxurious gifts that were fit for a king, Gold that symbolized Kinship and virtue was also a part of the gifts. People were not luxurious or gracious enough to gift gold, so they found the next best alternative- chocolate gold coins!

The second theory is more interesting as it is concerned with the great SANTA CLAUS. In the 4th century, St. Nicholas was the Bishop of Myra (now, Turkey). He was from a wealthy family and had inherited his family’s wealth. This humble man was shy and generous, he wanted to do something for the children of Myra. One day, he wanted to give a bag of gold coins to children but as he was too shy, He dropped the bag of gold coins into the chimney of a house. The girl in that house had hung her stocking to dry by the chimney. The gold coins fell into the stockings, thus began the practice of hanging stockings by the chimney on Christmas. St. Nicholas continued to give secret gifts to children and later, he came to be known as Santa Claus. To remember the kindness of St. Nicholas gold paper wrapped chocolate coins were gifted on Christmas.

Chocolate symbolizes Kindness, love, and generosity. If you want to show your loved one how special they are, gift them chocolates. On this season of giving, give chocolates and spread the message of love and kindness to everyone. Enjoy the Holiday season with a delicacy that will melt your taste buds.
